Lack of Sleep from Itching

Itching in the night seems to be the main problem here.  I noticed that I itched the most after showering or bathing, so I tried not to do that right before bed.  Sometimes it was from something I put on the skin, so I rinsed it off with cold water and used something else ....

If you suspect certain foods, avoid them before bed for a while and see if that helps.  See, also, The Anti-Itch Web Page.  I bought a cold pack made of blue gel.  I kept it in the freezer and used it to help relieve itching at night.  It comes with a cover that is soft and keeps the skin from getting wet.  It was helpful, too.

The Clothing Web Page may be helpful with regards to pajamas and bedding that may contribute to itching.

Sleep Aids

Recommended for eczema and insomnia are magnesium and B vitamins.  Probiotics also have a calming effect on the body.  Bananas, almonds, figs and dates contain tryptophan, which promotes sleep; and, herbs helpful for eczema and insomnia are hops, kava kava, passionflower, skullcap and valerian root.  It's always best not to rely on one root, but to switch around.
