How to Get Rid of Eczema Naturally: Treating Eczema Without Steroids
When most people think of steroids, they think of anabolic steroids that shrink certain male organs, cause acne, and yet temporarily build muscle with more testosterone that eventually drops off.
The truth is that steroids are used in just about every area of serious medicine. There are hundreds of different types of steroids, including those for female development. But if you are using something as simple as an inhaler for asthma, you are using steroids.
Why Not Use Steroids?
One of the main things that steroids do is they reduce inflammation. Obviously, anabolic steroids don’t work quite this way. But steroids such as corticosteroids used for eczema do. They reduce the inflammation and associated infections commonly seen with eczema. Inflammation is actually the body’s natural defense. It works with allergies or any other triggers, trying to keep dangerous substances out. The problem is it keeps dangerous substances and other things that you want to get rid of in.
But while anabolic steroids are famous for their side effects, this is not to say that other steroids are completely dangerous or completely harmless. Corticosteroids specifically have been known to contribute to problems with glaucoma, increased blood pressure, fluid retention, swelling in the lower legs, mood swings, weight gain, cataracts, high blood sugar, increased risk of infection, loss of calcium from bones, menstrual irregularities, suppressed adrenal gland hormone production, thin skin, easy bruising, coughing, soreness, and a number of other problems.
Obviously, steroids of any kind have good and bad to them. This is why so many of us are looking for an alternative. We obviously want to get the benefits of corticosteroids specifically for eczema. But we don’t want to pay the price sometimes necessary with that particular kind of ingredient. So we look into natural alternatives. It’s really simple actually.
What Are Corticosteroid?
When it comes down to it, what is a steroid? What does a corticosteroid do? A corticosteroid reduces inflammation. So logically, if you want an alternative, you look into anti inflammatories. The most obvious alternative would be something like aspirin or in natural form, white willow bark. This works to clearly reduce inflammation and other associated problems. Another alternative, which has no side effects would be aloe vera. Aloe vera helps to reduce inflammation and pain, and it works from the inside or outside to reduce pain and even heal skin.
There are other alternatives that work in different ways, and yet they can still provide an excellent alternative. For example, tea tree oil works as more of an antibacterial, which is an alternative to other prescription treatments.
Conclusion
But it does not cause any known side effects, and when used externally, it can work excellently to heal and soothe the skin. The point of all of this is, if you are looking for an excellent and effective eczema treatment, you don’t have to turn to steroids or other prescriptions with all of their side effects. There are plenty of natural alternatives that work just as well, doing the same thing, but without many of the side effects.
